Burren Glamping
Stay at ‘Burren Glamping’ – an award winning quirky and cosy converted vintage horse truck on a traditional family farm outside Kilfenora. In Ireland ‘Glamping’ is short for ‘Glamorous Camping’. It’s a unique, well insulated, creatively refurbished and now reused truck that sleeps 5 people comfortably, but can make room for a 6th person with a little bit of a juggle of a traditional settle bed. The interior is maximised to its fullest potential with a keen eye for detail.
On the farm you will meet the farm animals: rare breed free range pigs, typical Burren cattle breeds, 2 donkeys, hens, 2 dogs and a cat. Your breakfast will be home made using the farm’s own award winning produce and fresh baking.
The accommodation sits right in the heart of the farmyard in a quiet location between rolling green hills and an Iron Age earthen ringfort. On a clear night you can enjoy the stars and the moon as there is no light pollution. There is a wood burning stove to keep you warm on a chilly evening and the comforts of a shower, toilet, kettle and toaster. The farm is a small holding that is committed to sustainable farming and good animal welfare systems with no use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Its location is just off the Wild Atlantic Way, near the Cliffs of Moher. Kilfenora is the home of ceili music and its recorded history goes back at least 1500 years.
The farm offers tailor made tours by the farmer himself – of the farm and the Burren area with its rich archaeology, heritage, geology and unique botany. The hosts are committed to ensuring that the guests have a relaxing and memorable stay on the farm and hope to offer an insight to rural life in the west of Ireland.
